CARS

The other day, my friend showed me a book by an author that he admires and loves. I don't remember the name, but basically he was talking about the different types of cars, comparing them and their prices and also their attributes.

Because he was singing high praises about that book, I took it to read it just to see how good it is. The chapter that i got was about different models of cars by Mercedes. I don't remember the name of the car... it's just too long and ridiculous. I think it was the SLK something something and it's sibling.

Now, this author was comparing these 2 cars, saying that one is more expensive than the other (obviously), when actually, the cheaper one seemed to be better in the sense that it is practical, looks good, feels good, and the functions are not as complex and irritating. Well, that's all fine and good, but then he compared the difference in speed in both the cars, and this is the gist was what he said, "Both of the cars are fast (of course, they're Mercedes), up to dunno how many kilometers per hour. Well, a lot. The cheaper car( I'm saying it like this because I don't remember the name of the car) is slower than the more expensive one by 0.8 seconds(if I remember it correctly). So, in conclusion, the cheaper car is better than the more expensive one."

When I read that, I thought: What a stupid comparison, and what a stupid thought, and what a stupid reason to buy a car based on it's speed. This is the reason why:

It doesn't matter how fast the car can go, because the world is governed by rules, and that includes the road. You won't be ALLOWED to go over the speed limit anyway, so how fast your car can go is irrelevant, dumb, lame and inconsequential.
